On the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) was celebrated grandly across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid rich tributes to Sardar Patel by offering floral garlands at the Statue of Unity, located on the banks of the Narmada River in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. The grand parade and cultural performances organized on this occasion reflected India’s unity in diversity.

During the event, Prime Minister Modi took the ‘Ekta Shapath’ (Unity Pledge), stating: “I dedicate my life to preserving the unity and integrity of our nation. With the spirit of national oneness, I take this solemn pledge. I commit myself to safeguarding the internal security of our country.”

At around 8 a.m., PM Modi offered floral tributes to Patel’s statue and witnessed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade, which featured contingents from the BSF, CRPF, and various state police forces.

Later, on social media platform ‘X’ (Twitter), PM Modi shared a tribute post saying, “On the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, India pays homage to the Iron Man who played a key role in uniting the nation. His commitment to national integration, good governance, and public service continues to inspire generations.”

In a video message released later, the Prime Minister described Sardar Patel as the architect of India’s unity, noting that he possessed an unmatched ability to bring people together despite ideological differences. Modi recalled Patel’s efforts in integrating princely states into India and awakening the spirit of “unity in diversity” among citizens.

The Prime Minister reiterated that celebrating Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary on October 31 every year as National Unity Day aims to strengthen India’s unity, integrity, and security.
